Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and well-rounded Senior Accountant to join our growing finance team. This role will play a key part in managing the company’s full-cycle accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in month-end and year-end financial close processes, revenue recognition (ASC 606), financial reporting, accounts payable, and sales and use tax compliance, as well as an understanding of inventory and cost accounting principles.
This position requires a detail-oriented and proactive professional who can work cross-functionally to support business operations and financial decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Close & Reporting
- Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses.
- Assist in preparing financial reports and statements for management and stakeholders.
- Support external audits by preparing required documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
Revenue Recognition & Compliance
- Ensure proper revenue recognition under ASC 606, including contract review, deferred revenue reconciliation, and compliance with accounting policies.
- Work closely with sales and customer success teams to review contracts and ensure appropriate revenue treatment.
- Maintain and reconcile deferred revenue schedules.
Sales & Use Tax Compliance
- Ensure compliance with multi-jurisdictional sales tax regulations, including U.S. state nexus laws.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors to manage sales tax filings and audits.
- Assist with enhancement of automated tax solutions for accurate tax calculation and reporting.
Additional Accounting Responsibilities
- Support accounts payable (AP) processes, ensuring timely vendor payments and expense tracking.
- Support accounts receivable (AR) processes as needed, maintaining knowledge of billing and collections for redundancy.
- Understand basic inventory and cost accounting principles, assisting in maintaining accurate inventory valuation and financial reporting.
Process Improvement & Systems
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.
- Assist in the implementation and enhancement of financial systems, including ERP system plug-ins and automation tools.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including financial close, reporting, and compliance.
- Strong understanding of revenue recognition (ASC 606), accounts payable, and sales tax compliance.
- Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite, Intacct, or similar) and accounting software.
- Advanced Excel skills, including XLOOKUP, Power Query, Pivot Tables, dynamic arrays, and data visualization tools.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience with a SaaS, technology, or subscription-based business.
- Familiarity with sales tax platforms (Avalara, TaxJar, or similar).
- Exposure to financial planning and analysis (FP&A) related to forecasting and budgeting.
